“Quinn is from a state called Ohio,” she announces matter-of-factly. “From what she’s told me, she held quite the status back in the States.”
Quinn resists the urge to laugh dismissively. Now she knows Hermione is messing with her.
“She was in a choir called… Glee, I think it was,” continues Hermione as she works on the rest of her meal.
“Glee? So, you’re a singer, then?” presses Willard, as both he and Jeanine appear truly impressed.
“It was just something to do,” Quinn shrugs, suddenly uncharacteristically hot from all of this attention.

Chapter Title: A Civil War
Words: 6,011
Genre(s): Drama/Suspense
Rating: Rated: TSummary: AU. Grappling with major depression and shame following her sophomore year pregnancy, Quinn Fabray convinces her mother to move far away to London, England, where she discovers a secret that has been kept from her ever since she was eleven.
It had been just a glance.
Quinn was standing at the top of the auditorium, watching the auditions for West Side Story. She knew she had already gotten a part — how could she not? She was Quinn Fabray — and was curious to see her potential new cast mates. At first, the selection was disappointing. Students were attempting to sing and dance simultaneously, though they were horribly tone deaf and had two left feet. It was like watching a terrible hybrid of Finn and Sugar, and Quinn was beginning to doubt the success of the production. Sure, she was in it, as were Rachel, Santana, and Blaine — but four people couldn’t make West Side Story succeed.
And then she stepped onto the stage.
Quinn’s gaze locked in on the unfamiliar girl. She had never seen her before, of that much she was certain. A girl who looked like that would definitely have left a mark in the blonde’s memory. “Who’s that?” whispered Brittany from behind. Quinn merely shook her head, having no idea herself. She waited, her curiosity growing, watching the brunette take center stage. Artie called out her name, but Quinn couldn’t make it out. She shushed the murmuring people surrounding her, focusing her gaze on the girl. What will she be singing, the blonde wondered.
The music began, and Quinn immediately recognized the song as “Somewhere”. But would the brunette be singing with someone else, as the scene dictates? Apparently not, she noticed, as the girl began singing without any accompaniment other than the music. At the sound of her voice, Quinn suddenly couldn’t breathe. Her skin tingled, and her heart skipped a beat. How was that possible? She thought only Rachel sounded so… beautiful. Flawless. Angelic, even. She felt her throat constrict and her eyes sting, and as she raised a hand to rub at them, Quinn gasped softly in surprise. Were those… tears? No, this wasn’t possible. It couldn’t be. How was this girl even real?
A pause in the lyrics allowed the girl time to glance upward at the small group Quinn was with. Their eyes met, and for the brief moment that their gazes were connected, Quinn felt like it was only the two of them in the auditorium. She couldn’t explain what it was, but… there was something about that girl. Something that made her want to listen, to never shift her gaze from her slim form.
The brunette began singing once more, and closed her eyes as she neared the climax of the song, her voice echoing through the auditorium wonderfully. She clenched her hands into fists and brought them close to her chest, then extended them slowly as she sang the last note, holding it out as long as possible before going quiet.
There was a beat, and then suddenly everyone was clapping. Quinn blinked, as if she was surprised that there were people around her. She quickly looked back down at the brunette, who was still looking up at her. The blonde felt a shiver dance across her skin, but she kept her gaze on the girl steady. She had to meet her. God forbid the girl didn’t get the part, because damn, only Rachel had ever sounded that good, and maybe Mercedes. Quinn watched as she exited the stage, then leaned over to the boy standing beside her. “Did you catch her name?” she asked quietly.
“Yeah,” he murmured back, sounding as awestruck as Quinn felt. “Granger. Hermione Granger. Some foreign chick or whatever.”
Quinn nodded, licking her lips slowly as she digested the information. Hermione Granger. Yes, she had to meet this girl. Had to.

HOLY SHIT THIS IS FANTASTIC.

‘Hermione…?’ Quinn called out as she looked around for Hermione.
She heard a small groan fill the silence. A small, exhausted, pained groan.
Hesitantly, she followed the noise, her heart thundering against her chest.
As she rounded the corner her eyes fell upon the broken form of her girlfriend. She felt sick. Physically sick.
‘Oh God, No…’
